An interesting story from the New York Times about some questions from the Vatican on nuns in America.

The head office (Rome) is sending out a capable nun to see how the sisters are getting on out in the field. It is a wise and prudent step The only sisters with anything to fear are those sisters who have betrayed their vows and the sisters who have publicly denied the Church's teachings and actively worked to support activities the Church has taught are evil eg abortion. This may help such individuals to face up to their need to seek dispensation from their vows and leave religious life since they are using the title of sister but living as a sister.
